A Sending of Knights

We five rode outside our kingdom, looking
Having been sent upon a journey, to retrieve
A King's daughter, restless, silently suffered
Her mind and imagination were boundless
The time on the trail was made very difficult
The people asked were helpless, not knowing
The knights assigned to me were each weary
We'd been sent with fanfare and much hope
We'd keep questing for our king was worthy
His word law and heart beyond challenge
Our hope to find his daughter was to endure
Sooner or later, his noble heart would break
The world was large in size, beyond measure
But couldn't measure will to move distances
Five knights trying to find one single person
As we returned to our King, a state of defeat
Who we saw standing next to the great King
It was the target of our quest, the daughter
He was smiling and crying, moments of joy
Years upon the quest did not leave us silent
We cried, in the end, this quest was solved
And no one had to die or be wounded
