You aren't Christ, I'm not Judas
How am I to interpret this latest speech
Am I the Christ needing crucifixion
Or are you suggesting that
My loyalty is such
That you believe I am Judas
And wait now for my kiss
To betray you to the Romans
And the complicit mob
Well the truth is that my greatest reach
Could not be near the conviction
Needed to be the one
To follow my conscience
And surrender you
I'd require a great deal of opium
To change my character
Frankly you aren't Christ
You aren't a martyr
You only love having that constant podium
Upon which to teach
Nothing I say is worthy
So why do I bother
I surrender to the mob
And they turn away
Throw me silver pieces
As you are slain
For the mob and Romans could recognize
The vile odium
Of your conceit
