Powerful and evoking greatness
Brightest star of the heavens
Sign of the beginning of the flood
Bringer of the hottest days
Boiler of Achilles blood
Star of imaginations
Light of the evening dark
Marker of passing generations
Watching as humanity is undone
And civilization after civilization
Passing and birthing anew
Dog Star is growing brighter
While all other stars dim
And time has no effect
Nor does aging upon it show
Empires fade, nations die
As the anthems of heaven's choirs
Sing for the star eternal
And none can match the glow
