Were made for prestige, to achieve status
While deforesting the island
And thereby killing society's self
But if true
And I don't know that
There are far more questions left
Such as who were they trying to please
What were they hoping to do
Once their status was secured
I don't know enough to say
But I know it was far more than
The scientists will be able to discern
